Errol McKellar's Celebrity XI V's Martin Ling's London Legends in aid of Prostate Cancer UK & Mind Hertfordshire - Sunday 27th May 2018

Errol McKellar & Martin Ling's Celebrity Football Match 2018

Did you know that 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point in their life and the risk is higher, 1 in 4 if you are a black male! It is not known why the odds are greater if you are of african-caribbean decent but if you are a male aged 45 years and over or 35 and have a family history of prostate cancer, ask your GP about a PSA blood test. For more information please visit ProstateCancerUK.org.

The C word can be scary for the sufferer, family and friends and with the diagnosis and treatment often depression can follow. Two important topics; prostate cancer and mental health awareness are often not spoken about but Prostate Cancer UK's ambassador Errol McKellar and patron of Mind Charity Martin Ling have come together in true sportsmanship to put on a friendly football match where there will be no losers.

I was involved in #ErrolsGame back in 2015 so when Errol called me about this match wanting to raise awareness in the Greek community, the timing was perfect as I was currently working with GreekBeat Radio of which we could utIlise their outreach to spread the message of Prostate Cancer awareness via their platform. - Helen KC

When Brummie Greek Cypriot Comedian Stevie Georgiou met Errol...

Young and healthy Stevie Georgiou is only in his 20's but with a strong family history of prostate issues and bladder cancer, he is aware his risk of this disease is increased. When GreekBeat Radio asked if he would get involved in their campaign, he was only too pleased to help.

I would personally like to thank my GreekBeat Radio team on the day; Anthony Anthimou 'Tony Greekos', Samantha Smith, Dareth Evans and Ama Lawrence for all your hard work, Mario Avram 'DJ Mario Chackos' and Mario Georgiou for supporting, Stevie Georgiou for playing in the match and to you and your family for flying over from Cyprus earlier that morning especially for the game. Thanks to Mo George (1% Greek), Charlie Quirke and Harry aka White Yardie for also playing agreeing to play for a good cause. I can confirm that although Spoony was injured in the video, he ruptured his achilles and is in plaster for 6 weeks but he is well, still working and getting about!
